Israel is Reclaimed and Reunited

11:10 At that time ¹  a root from Jesse ²  will stand like a signal flag for the nations. Nations will look to him for guidance, ³  and his residence will be majestic.

Yesaya 57:2

57:2 Those who live uprightly enter a place of peace;

they rest on their beds. ⁴ 

Yesaya 60:19-20

60:19 The sun will no longer supply light for you by day,

nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you;

the Lord will be your permanent source of light –

the splendor of your God will shine upon you. ⁵ 

60:20 Your sun will no longer set;

your moon will not disappear; ⁶ 

the Lord will be your permanent source of light;

your time ⁷  of sorrow will be over.

[57:2]  ⁴ tn Heb “he enters peace, they rest on their beds, the one who walks straight ahead of himself.” The tomb is here viewed in a fairly positive way as a place where the dead are at peace and sleep undisturbed.

[60:20]  ⁶ sn In this verse “sun” and “moon” refer to the Lord’s light, which will replace the sun and moon (see v. 19). Light here symbolizes the restoration of divine blessing and prosperity in conjunction with the Lord’s presence. See 30:26.
